A passion for process

by Leigh / Friday, 05 April 2024 / Published in Business

In yesterday’s Meeting of the Titans, we took a deep dive into creating supportive processes to facilitate the best outcomes for our Teams and ourselves. We are lucky enough to have a wide range of strong skill sets amongst Club Members, and one of our genius process people gave us some invaluable pearls of wisdom which resonated across the board.

He talked about how to break any process down into the smallest possible steps, allowing the least skilled person possible to successfully complete the actions, ensuring the widest choice of Team members to fulfil the role and at the lowest cost possible for the level of process.

Although processes are something that can be taken as a means to an end for many of us, when you hear a process genius talking about them, they suddenly become larger than life and almost… sexy, dare I say.

I had a similar conversation with a Strategic Accountant last night whom I highly respect, and he commented that:

“The biggest thing I do when I go into businesses is improve the processes. Yeah, I know a bit about human resources, yeah I know a bit about culture, yeah I know a lot about accounting and the numbers – and yes I also love to look at percentages, as they are all adjusted and improved based on the processes.

Improvements in the processes also support the Team in doing a better job, which gives them more progress and more satisfaction.”

When you put it like that, it’s hard not to get excited about processes and the interface they provide between people and productivity. And there’s always the possibility of improving on the processes we currently have, no matter how tight they already are 🙂
