Making it all the same

by Leigh / Friday, 10 April 2026 / Published in Spiritual

In yesterday’s Growth HotSeat session, we addressed how busyness operates as an unconscious distraction mechanism. The ego convinces us that endless action is required for our survival, actively steering us away from genuine presence.

We examined a profound concept: to make this year truly different, we must strive to make every experience the same. The moment we elevate the value of a future event above our current reality, whether anticipating an overseas holiday or simply waiting for a morning coffee, we unknowingly build a trap of fluctuating highs and lows. Some will think or want to say “That’s just how life is!”. And that’s why for those; that’s just how life is..

We illustrated this via a visual model, revealing that even our ultimate, imagined peaks of happiness still harbour significant elements of fear and attachment. True enlightenment, or perfect peace, sits far above these manufactured spikes. A Member currently managing his property development valuations and a domestic relocation shared how surrendering his timeline to his inner guidance system continues to bring unexpected and appreciated outcomes.

Another Member, flourishing in a bespoke art career, echoed this internal shift. When recently confronted with a complex design challenge for a client, rather than succumbing to the midnight mind chatter he’s experienced in the past, he simply sat up in bed at dawn and allowed his creativity to flow without restriction. He noted that as his understanding of this work has deepened over the years, the dramatic emotional swings of his past business life have smoothed out entirely. We discussed how funny it is to think about the way we navigated and experienced the world before.

The conversation then turned to the deeply poignant transitions of our elderly parents. Discussing their various stages of late-life care and passing served as a raw reminder that our ultimate goal is always genuine freedom, regardless of the physical circumstances we face.

“Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.” – Wayne W. Dyer
