Working Smarter

by Leigh / Friday, 24 September 2021 / Published in Business, Financial, Physical/Health

Is there room for you to work smarter in your business?

In yesterday’s Thursday HotSeat, our Member in focus shared that although he has previously had massive gains in cutting down his work hours, enjoying an improved work-life balance and time to pursue his passions, he has recently ended up back in a situation of working 11+ hours per day.

Challenges in his business, from an ex-employee’s errors, had seen him rise and put in a herculean effort, which produced massively positive financial results, however he is now aware that it is taking its toll on his mind and body, and isn’t sustainable.

As business leaders, it may not always be easy to put ourselves first, and even the most aware of us can falter and lose sight of the path when our business is going through a particularly challenging phase.

If you are considering what would be the ideal work-life balance for you, it’s worth knowing that the World’s largest ever four day work week trial conducted in Iceland was an overwhelming success, proving that working less hours is not only supportive of employees and leaders alike being happier and healthier, but is also much more productive.

This accompanying report is an interesting deep-dive into Iceland’s trial and what understanding and application can be gained from looking after you and your team through working less hours.
