How much do you value real communication in your relationships?
In yesterday’s Thursday HotSeat, the level of the honesty and openness that we are privileged to share within the Club was evident. And a great reminder that, no matter how awesome the tools, techniques and strategies are that we have access to and implement, it’s enjoying the time together, in the company of such amazing people that is the best part of it all.
The Member in focus was acknowledged by a fellow Member as being dedicated, organised and doing all the right stuff in his business, and also that there may be a missing piece, which could have him succeed in even more amazing ways.
As a Coach, I have many roles in supporting Members to achieve their dreams, and sometimes that includes being the messenger that highlights their blind spots. As much as I’m willing to break rapport, in order to facilitate a Member’s desired outcome, the process becomes much more holistic and potent with the input of fellow Members who’ve already walked that part of the journey and are willing to be vulnerable in their sharing to help another through.
For example, in yesterday’s session, we all enjoyed a good laugh when a Member shared openly, to help the Member in focus, by describing how he didn’t really like me very much initially.
What he actually said was:
‘I didn’t really like Leigh that much when I first started this Club.. he was always happy and he was always organised and f#@$&* had all the answers, like ah God, how’s his luck.
But he has a lot of stuff in his life that would make my life better if I could incorporate even a fraction of that.
Now I’m 6 ½, coming on 7 years in the Club.. trust the process brother.’
I appreciate that kind of honest communication and realness; all topics being up for discussion.
We share in fun, laughs, sincerity, successes, uncomfortable bits and humanness of the journey of life and business together, which is such a privilege.
A heartfelt quote from Paulo Coelho that comes to mind is this:
‘Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment.’
