Did you know there are two bridges in your system, which when developed, support you in having clarity, flow, access to higher levels of intelligence, strengthened immunity and increased emotional resilience?
Do you have the tools and understanding to put that version of you in the driver’s seat of your life and business?
In today’s Thursday HotSeat, we looked at the mechanisms behind some of the tools and practices that we use in the Club. Getting clear on the science is invaluable to better understand why they are so effective in supporting leaders to increase success, time-freedom and fulfilment in all areas of life.
The science clearly shows that getting into the right ‘heartset’ is even more important than reaching an optimal mindset. It is proven that there are more neural pathways running from the heart to the brain than vice versa and that the heart is actually the senior intelligence within our system.
Understanding the relationship between heart and brain function, as well as being practiced at creating coherence between the two is fundamental to being optimal as a leader, partner, parent and friend, as well as living a deeply fulfilled life.
We use various methods within the Club to build this heart-brain bridge and achieve a coherent state. This supercharges our ability to focus, navigate challenging situations, improve efficiency, problem-solve and create forward momentum with clarity and confidence. Having those two power centres working cohesively is where the true power is at.
The second bridge is called the alpha bridge, which can be built through regular meditation practice. Meditation allows you to access higher levels of intelligence through moving into alpha, delta and theta brainwaves which can be more commonly accessed during sleep.
The difference here is that you are consciously bringing higher intelligence into your waking mind and building the bridge to this higher intelligence, which you can then access and utilise in daily life.
If you are new to meditation, this short video on The Scientific Power of Meditation (2 min 59) is a great intro to the benefits. Also this article from Psychology Today, entitled 20 Scientific Reasons to Start Meditating Today covers some of the new research and debunks a few myths.
if you’re keen to get started I recommend finding even just 3 minutes a day for 30 days, to start your practice. Choose a quiet spot where you won’t be interrupted and simply turn your phone timer on for 3 minutes.
Do your best to observe your breath in and out of your nose. The air coming in through your nostrils will be cool and the air flowing out will be warm. The difference is subtle and that is the point, it will take attention to notice. Yes, you may have thoughts which vie for your attention. Simply bring your attention back to your breath. Like everything valuable, it takes practise.
Writing down a snapshot of life now, and again after the 30 days is a great way to notice the differences and improvements.
